다운증후군 (Down Syndrome)에서 정상보다 감소한다. 낮은 수치는 태반의 이상을 의미할 수 도 있다. intrauterine growth restriction, 자간전증 (Preeclampsia), placental abruption, 조산, or fetal death 등과 연관이 된다는 보고도 있다.
