루골 용액
Lugol's solution 프랑스 의사 장 루골이 1829년 의학계에 소개한 방부제. 세균 및 곰팡이의 살균에 효과적이다. 루골 용액은 요오드화 칼륨 10％, 요오드 5％, 물 85％로 구성된 갈색의 투명한 액체이다. 알코올 용액인 요오드팅크액보다 개방 상처에 바를 때 덜 자극적이다.
Lugol's solution is available in different potencies of 1%, 2%, or 5% iodine. The 5% solution consists of 5% (wt/v) iodine (I 2) and 10% (wt/v) potassium iodide (KI) mixed in distilled water and has a total iodine content of 126.5 mg/mL. The 5% solution thus has a total iodine content of 6.3 mg per drop of 0.05 mL; the 2% solution has 2.5 mg total iodine content per drop.
