======갑상선자극홀몬 (Thyroid stimulating hormone; TSH)======

갑상선 자극호르몬은 뇌하수체에서 형성되어 갑상선이 갑상선 호르몬을 합성하도록 자극하는 역할을 한다. 하지만 갑상선의 기능이 항진되면 더 이상 갑상선 자극호르몬이 필요 없기 때문에 뇌하수체에서는 그 합성을 중지한다. 따라서 대부분의 그레이브스 병 환자들은 갑상선 자극 호르몬은 낮게 T4, T3 수치는 높게 나타내며 이와 더불어 갑상선 자극 호르몬 수용체에 대한 항체는 높은 농도로 나타납니다. 이 항체는 태반을 통과하기 때문에 산모로부터 태아에게 항체가 전달되면 태아의 갑상선을 자극할 수 있다. 이는 태아에게 갑상선 기능 장애와 다른 여러 질환을 야기 할 수 있다.
